The Gloucester Litter Picker (by )

Today on the outskirts of Gloucester we saw an old man litter picking the road verges with his own bin in hand - I found this inspirational and heart breaking - the litter should not be there for a start, and litter that is a accident etc... should get cleaned up as part of the city maintenance, the old man is caring for his local environment and as such is a leading light. I couldn't get a photo and it started raining so I have drawn a sketch of him from memory.

What a lovely gesture. Unfortunately the likes of the man in your picture are outnumbered by those who feel it is OK to pollute this beautiful part of the country. I am disgusted by the amount of litter in and around Gloucester.

I think a lot of it gets blown about from piles around full bins etc... rather than being dropped though obviously both cases are problems that need to be looked at. Litter happens regardless of how careful people are but there is the frequency and then the tidying up rate that need to be looked at.
