The First Fire of the Season
Last night we had the first fire of the season - Mum and Dad brought chestnuts for roasting and we had marshmellows for toasting 
And we even managed to bankthe fire (ie put lots of coal on it - cover it in ash and close the fire right down so it burns slowely) so that all I had to do to bring it back to life this morning was to riddle it (ie poke it lots with a poker so that all the ash falls out) and add more coal.
We have moved the setee back to its cosy position of in front of the fire so we can snuggle on it! The only downside is that the household jobs we had for the weekend over ran and so the fire guard is not yet up so Jean wont be able to roam free for a while
