Therizinosaur Time Capsule (by sarah)

Well I managed to get something in for the Therizinosaur Time Capsule on the Art Evolved website. My contribution does look like a Skeksis from the Dark Crystal :/ but never mind! (For those who haven't read the previous entries on this Therizinosaurs are dinosaurs and ART evolved is a site on palaeo-art).

This is the second one I have entered and I am still only getting around to giving them the planning sketches :/ Something I hope to solve with the next one which is why I already have the book pages marked out and have not put the art stuff away!

This time capsule also coincides with ART Evolves first birthday 🙂 I am really happy to have found them before they cross that threshold - not sure why but it just feels important!

When I find my camera lead I will also complete the live blogging of the art work on Salaric Art and Craft - I have even made a palaeo-art section on there along with a my drawings/paintings.

Elephant Parade (by sarah)

I have applied to paint an elephant!

Yep you heard me an elephant! Of the statue variety - think the multi-coloured cows that were around London or the Pigs that were in Bath.

They don't have many left and I only just scraped in on the deadline - so I probably wont get it but I had to try!

The elephants will be paraded in London to help awareness of the plight of the Asian elephant. You can find out more about the event here.

I love conservation stuff and again this is for me at least a cross over of science and art - so for my design I went for the whole ecology feel - so yeah you guessed it I plan to paint one of my seascapes 🙂 Well to me the epitamise a bio-community in balance and in danger - they are also basically one of the oldest habitates on earth!

One of the things that doing this application has taught me though is that I need to get some sort of portfolio site up and running :/

Tom and Blanket Farm (by sarah)

For her birthday Jean got a blanket that is part of a series of stories I've written for her called Blanket Farm. A friend knitted the main blanket and then I have been adding all the 'picture' bits too it - now I didn't get a chance to finish it completely before Jean's birthday but gave it too her anyway.

Yesturday I stole it back to do some more work on it - like filling in the cottage which is just an outline currently and stuff like that! But I put it down and when I turned round Tom was on it! And every time I've looked at the thing its had either a cat or child in or on it and I even used it for my nap this afternoon! It's the popular blanket we've ever had - I'm a bit perplexed as to how I'm going to get round to finishing it off!

I awake and lo!

A cat was not turfed and instead of mewing to be let out had erm... gone in the corner of the KITCHEN!

So I turfted the Ginger One who shall remain nameless and in disgrace and cleaned it up using up the last of the disinfected in the kitchen.

This took up a big chunk of the getting Jean ready for school time and then I remember - eek she's supposed to have lunch and I start making it whilst Dad panics about her being late.

We get to the school fine and she goes in - then somehow a certain Ginger Rogue has got back into the house and relieved himself again in a HUGE sandy coloured puddle this time in front of the Fridge.

Somehow dad misses this blot on the landscape of my kitchen and walks to the fridge for milk and back to the kettle makes his coffee and walks into the living room and sits down on the setee.

I walk into the kitchen looking for the laundary basket to get the washing in and have... well kittens!

So after having to make a trip upstairs for more disinfectant I clean it all up - putting the tea towel that was too near in the washing machine for a boil wash - I shout at dad and this disrupts a certain Black Cat who jumps onto the coffee table and there by knocks my lunch plate down breaking it in half.

I am just a bit cheesed off shall we say :/

Ladybirds (by alaric)

Sitting at my desk working, I found a spider in my hair. So I went and opened the window to put it out.

This is, the big office window's not been opened for a while. As I opened it, lots of stuff rained down on me. And when I looked I realised I was covered in ladybirds.

Seems they're attempting to hibernate in the gap between the window and the frame - except now they're all disturbed. So I shook them off of me, and left them to collect together so I can decide what to do with them.

I took some pictures as they started forming good clusters:

But there's plenty more than that still making their way into the clusters... and I opened the other side of the window as they were crawling into the gap from the inside (and I don't want them inside), which caused a whole load more to shower down.
