Stupid Balls of Fluff! (by )

The kittens have been being stupidly cute again - we tend to chuck them out of the bedroom at night as they pounce on you as anyone who's stayed here knows! Well we turfed one last night and thought the other was down stairs - however I proceeded to have a strange dream that the baby had crawled out of her cot and into our bed for a snuggle.

In a half dream state at some point in the night I reached out to stroke her hair and lo! A warm furry bundle was snuggled up next to me 🙂 So then being the heartless person I am I got Al to turf it out of the bedroom.

The other thing they keep doing is sitting on the window sill and watching the birds on the bird table - in fact there was just a huge thunk as Hydrogen tried to catch one though a closed window! Minni has also been caught watching the birds her tail flicking backwards and forwards - a stupid kitten thought this was a toy this morning and pounced and then was shocked and upset when minni chased her out of the house 🙂 We love having cats!

mew :( (by )

Came down to reassemble/hoover the fireplace and lo! yet another kitten egg has appeared during the night 🙁 - obviously they aren't as house trained as we thought :'(

Of Green Fingers and Stinging Nettles (by )

Today I finally got time to tie those blasted tomatoe plants up - maybe now the tomatos will rippen and we will have yummy! To my suprise there were quiet alot of tomatoes - they are supposed to be cherry tomatos so I'm not expecting anything huge! They are growing in grow bags just outside our house in the sort of gully thing before the flower bed. They took quiet a lot of tying back with a few causulties along the way 🙁 Including my hand! There was a damn great big stinger lurking in amoungst them so there I was grabbing great big hundfulls of tomato plant when wam bam thankyou mam! White blotches and red skin all over my fingers 🙁 They are still tingling now! I've ended up using most of our ball of string to tie them up with and it was no mean feat I can tell you! I did actually end up with green fingers from this escapade too! Hence the title of the post.

Also my tip for today would be - do not grow things on the compost heap no matter what a good idea it is or how good the flipping crop of squashes is! Al's aunt is growing all manner of squashes from yellow couregettes to pumpkins on the compost heap - and the crop yeild is fantastic - BUT

a) the friuts are going rotten quicker as they are touching the compost/trying to grow into the compost!

b) getting to the stream to fill up the water can is a night mare - I ended up sliding down the muddy bank into the water today 🙁

c) compost heaps that get wet ooz a noxious brown liquid that sqielches out under foot - this is not good when wearing sandles!

d) being short I have to climb onto the heap to water the plants - I dont like doing this for two reasons - climbing still hurts slightly and the compost heap is smelly unstable!

Veggy plot is a bit over grown but not too bad considering the amount of time I'm finding to actually tend it! And the kittens keep eating all the herbs!

Jean knows what the potties for! (by )

Yes it is obviouslt for posting all the magnetic alphebet letters in - she spent ages crawling backwards and forwords to get the letters off the fridge and place them carefully in the potty.

She and the kittens have also been helping with the house work!

Jean spent yesturday giving me things she had fetched - unfortunatly one of these helpful items was the bag of nappy sacks - the sacks all fell out. The kittens then decided they would help tidy these up - the landing and bathroom floor were covered but then JEan helpfully picked them all up and gave them to me - with uber amounts of enthusiasm!

The kittens also decided that I wasnt being fast enough with my bead work and that the sharring elastic needed to be on the other side of the room!

Disclaimer - no babies or kittens were left on their own at any time with horrid bags that could suffocate or choke them!

Tentative First Steps (by )

Photos coming soon - honest!

Sorry baby lovers this is about the cats. Both the kittens and Mini have been bravely venturing outside but not too far! We were very chuffed that Mini came back 🙂 So we must be doing something right!

The kittens have only just started venturing to the other side of the drive, much prefering the 'jungle' as a place of saftey.

Hydrogen is definently the more adventurous and bold of the two - she was the first out of the box and always the first into a situation but then again she is also the first to dart back into cover. Today they met Betsy for the first time - this is Barbara's cat, again there was hissing - Betsey made a bee line straight for H and hissed, H stood her ground with minimial back arching until (to our suprise) Betsey ran away! So yet again our little kittens have faced of a bigger older cat and won! Unfortunatly they have started sniffing around the Stable which is most definatly Tim terratory - this could proove interesting!

Mini too has been venturing outside though she took longer to approach the open door, mainly it would appear , becuase she has to go through 'prime kitten terrotory' to get to the door - yes she does seem scared of the kittens! We just cant believe the way all the adult cats are behaving. Anyone would think the kittens were pit bulls or something!
