Jean is more than shoe obsessed!

Yesturday we came in from the garden and I took my trainers off and before I had a chance to try and remember where I had flung my fluffy boot slipper things, Jean was cuddling one to her going 'shoe shoe!'

Just as an experiment not really expecting anything I stuck my foot out and said, 'thats right Mummy's shoe' to my amazement she put it on my foot! Ok so it wasnt all the way on but it was most of the way there! Then she went and got the other boot slipper and insisted on putting that one on me.

We have been trying to impose an outside shoes and inside shoes rule which is mostly going well though some people still come inside in their wellys!

Jean has taken to this idea extrememly well - we have a pair of orange duck slippers for her with flappy beaks and everything - ok so now each shoe only has one eye and I can only find one of the missing eyes! but still. When we come in now Jean will stand by the front either with duck slippers in hand that she's taken from the shoe rack or if they are not there she points to her feet and says 'shoe' and then points at the shoe rack looking slightly confussed.

I just find this incredibly sweet but in hind sight this is probably a very boring and gushy post - oh well.

Crocuses and Others (by sarah)

Crocuses appear to be every where this year including the garden here!

This first two aren't crocuses but they are purple so I just had to photograph them! Ones with flash the other with out but its the same plant!

Crocuses, crocuses everywhere and I know that some of these babies are edible! alas I think that I might be introuble if I dug them up and cooked them besides I still need to work out which book I read this in and triple check lest I posion someone!

These lovely purple flowers are some kind of dwarf iris they are max - 10 cm of the grownd - these pics were not taken when the flowers where at their best unfortunatly.

Camera Found! (by sarah)

I found the camera in the end - after four odd days searching - I must be going mad 🙁

It turned out to be in the pocket of a fleece I dont remember wearing at the bottom of the washing pile that I swear I hadnt touched for two weeks.

Our cloaks were even on top of it - must be fairies or practical jokers or my mind going - somehting like that 🙁

Anyway I am not happy as now the house is a complete mess again as I was so desperate that I pulled everything out of cupboards looking for the damn thing!

The day's work can now begin... I can run the computers or the ADSL router off of the generator, but due to cabling limitations, not the computers and the Internet connection.

Bah. Our power failed at 7:30pm last night (the 5th of March) and has yet to resume at the time of writing (11:30am on the 6th of March).

The house is festooned with extension leads, since we're running the fridge and freezers from the generator, with another spur over to the ADSL router zone. I'm typing this on my laptop, hooked up to the router with a patch cord, since I don't have enough extension cables to get the switches going to get Internet access to the office...

About to go out and fill up our fuel cans...
