WoPoWriMo 2014 (by sarah)

Yep it is that time of year again when the poets get writing! I am once more in charge of the WoPo site this year for the WoPo poetry a day writing challenge.

The sign up is now open so come and join us (me and Alaric will be doing the challenge, as will Jeany).

Also I have had a request to round up some of the writing ideas and hints on WoPo and The Monster Blogs so I will attempt to get some sort of ebook out there for you guys, can't promise it will arrive before the end of the month as I have an exam and course work but we will see!

Anyway I have some exciting guest bloggers set up for the month a head and some lovely images for the writing exercises and then there are the give aways 🙂

Day 9 – VAT issues (by sarah)

The painting is called Lonely Christmas and is part of the painted advent I am doing, I like the concept and the colours but... I don't think it quiet works - nor unfortunately do my plans for The Little Book of Festive Poetry amongst other things. Basically there are new VAT laws coming in and they seem stupid complicated and so for now like many many authors I am having to currently put a hold on selling ebooks 🙁

Of Books and Candles (by sarah)

Sunday was the village Christmas Craft Fayre in Cranham and I shared a stall with Jeany.

She's been making candles out of old candle ends - this is the second time she has sold the candles like this - the first time she used the profits to by colours and some more moulds (she was initially given a kit). She took £20, paid £6 for her part of the table, spent £5 on presents and the remaining she wants to by some smells to add. (I don't think the Daddy Minion who helped her is getting any money for his efforts but the candle he liked didn't sell...)

I on the other hand sold books.

I sold 6! And mainly to people I didn't actually know 🙂 I had both the hand made Little Books of Festive Poetry and the properly printed Little Books of Spoogy Poetry. I was surprised that people did actually seem to want both 🙂

There were lovely felt horses and sheep which you can buy here! And lovely chainsaw sculptures 🙂 Jean told me I wasn't allowed to buy one 🙁 We don't have enough money apparently.

The excitement of it all was too much for Alaric and Mary who snoozed gently in the corner behind the stall.

Badges and Books and Yay! (by sarah)

Yesterday I received through the post the little button badges of one of my illustrations - it is the Mummy Eating Cherry Pie. I am so pleased with them! I gave the girls their badges as soon as they came home from school.

There are a hundred of these and they are for the launch of The Little Book of Spoogy Poetry 🙂 And to just add the icing to the cake yesterday - they themselves arrived! I thought I need to go and pick them up so was really chuffed to get them delivered to my door 🙂

I'll be sending out the pre-orders at the weekend and shall be finishing off the book marks today!

To say I am excited is an understatement, the girls already have a copy in their room and insisted I read it too them last night 🙂 Mary is actually responding to the poems now which is lovely 🙂

July’s to-do’s 2013 (by sarah)

July is another of what I term a FiMo (Finishing Month) for me and I am attempting to move ahead with projects that have been sitting there started but not completed. Mainly I am trying to push ahead on all the books I have at almost publication stage starting with a flash fiction collection called A Flash of Magenta. This will be a collection of the stories I've written for Friday Flash a community of writers who share a piece of fiction with each other and the world every Friday.

Issue being that though I have always written a story for Friday not all of them have made it onto the blog due to internet down time etc... so I am trying to type all of them up and edit them etc... for inclusion.

It is also Camp Nano this month - this is like a summer version of the November write a novel in a month challenge. I really don't think I will have time to write 50K words but do plan to try and sort out and finish of other already started noveling efforts.

I also have two lots of festival workshops to organise, a wedding to attend, a photo comp to enter and so on.
