Crickly Country Park (by )

Ages ago now - about six weeks or so my perants came up for the weekend and we went for a day outing at Crickly Country Park - there is geology, archeology and lots of wildlife there so it was lots of fun. I was also impressed with the visitors centre! though it needs a little cafe/shop thing really and the loos were a bit - hmmmm.

The Hill Daddy and Jean I'm off to explore!

Jean loves collecting rocks!

I have a rock! Too tired I just might escape this time

Alaric decided he'd roll down the hill I can't remember why - this was on the back were the old Roman Hill Fort used to be.

Hill rolling

Trekking Almost there!

Dad spent alot of time drawing cats and the like and reading all the notices - he was especially enamerred with the fossils and models at the visitors centre.

Jean became jellous of other children she found as they had hats and she didnt - this was how she ended up wearing Alarics fold-up hat!

Jean attacking other children for their hats

I kept trying to photograph this poor creature but everytime it felt safe enough to venture out some one with a dog or small child would come walking through and scare it away again - hence no good pics!

Attempted wildlife shot

The visitors centre had a giant snakes and ladders with velcro attatched to the wall and big cloth dice - Jean loved it though we did have a minor tiff about returning the dice to the little room were the game was!

Intermissions (by )

Now when I was little I'm sure I remember films having intermissions where you would go a loo and buy popcorn like the theatre. Al said he's sure of this too - so why does it nolonger happen?

Surely if a film is over an hr and 1/2 there should be a break some where - preferially the middle. Now I remember being cuaght out with this one when I wnet to see a five hr film at the cinemar - no break large coke etc....

What are they thinking - the last three times at least that me and Al have been to see a film we have both practiclally run out as soon as the credits start due to pressing bladder problems and one of those times we didnt even have drinks on the film with us!! (so bangs goes that solution!). Now surely they would make more money having the breaks? They take your tickets at lots of cinemars before yiou get to the bar and sweets area so no problem there plus people would finnish their food etc.. and want more?

Is it the 21 st century concentration span that is at fualt - would people loose the thread of the film if there was a break? Or is it that they would only be able to show the film say four times a day instead of five, and the extortionate price of the tickets means they would rather do that - fear that is there isnt a film starting every ten minutes they would loose customers? I dont think they would becuase you look up the times before you leave or take pot luck on what you are going to watch and watch what evers stating next. I dont mind wondering about for 1/2 before a film starts - sigh.

Day Three of the Flood (by )

The house now smells faintly of damp dog disturbingly though not suprisingly 🙁 - we are hoping that it will all be ok. We've had fan heaters on (though on fan rather than heat! as its been a scorcher) they dont seem that effective which is a bit depressing when you work out the cost in electricity and start to think of the environment :'( On the plus side I have the kitching table back and have temperaroly stoed all the tins and cartons that were on the floor of the ladder cupboard. The house is still in complete disarray though much to the horror of Al's Step Mother Lynne who is visiting us at the moment. She was expecting to see a great improvement on the choas of boxes she left me with in September but lo! Sigh - this place is never going to be straight at this rate!

p.s. we cant take the carpet up to dry it as that would involve ripping all the kitchen cabinets out hence our desperation for it to dry otherwise I might just cry!

The Second Day of the Flood (by )

Well day two has ended and the hoouse is still in disarray - the larder was a bit more flooded than I realised sigh! But still the carpet no longer squealches when walked on and only feels damp to the touch, we have fan heaters going to try and sort out the rest but I think we may soon be visited by the carpet mushrooms 🙁 Still we needed to clean the carpet and it is now very clean, plus I wanted the Ladder racks sorted and its getting there - may even get the supports for the other two selves made soon! (the ladder racks is a cool modular cabinet thing that had more selves than supports to put them on the frame work so Al has been steadily making supports).

Jean thinks this is all great - she's been having lots of adventures and even has her own 'boat'!

Opps this was supposed to go live yesturday but I stupidly hit save instead of publish - sigh - silly Sarah.

Today on ‘What can Possible go Wrong Next For Sarah and Al’ (by )

Well the dishwasher wasnt working and we kept getting misterious wet patches - obviously the dishwasher - again right? Wrong! No some idiot in the past had failed to put an olive on the compression joint under the sink - Dad (mum and dad are staying with us this week) said 'oh whys it dripping from there when the problems the dishwasher' touched the joint and bam wam thankyou mame we have flood time as the joint falls to peices and we play hunt the stop cock. Finding the stop cock eventually after the down stairs is a river/me stupidly forgetting where the stop cock was ie the sensible place behind the freezer that fits in ;ike a cupboard - mass movement of much furniture had to ensue before we could get to the stop cock. Fearing dad would give himself another heart attack I have currently sent him out with Babara to get water sucky up things 🙁 More money litteraly down the drain! Hehehe a bad pun I know! The ladder cupboard in under an inch of water so I had to rescue the 20kg bag of rice - I hurt lots - physio will kill me - oh well best get back to the mopping I supoose! Again disaster stricks on the day Al is away on long journey ;(

Sigh
