Jean's been quite snuffly after her last round of jabs, so we were feeling sorry for her anyway, but this morning when I changed her she had really nasty nappy rash, and the elastic edge of her nappy was folded inwards rather than out - which happened to go right through the sore area and irritate it, causing it to bleed slightly 🙁
This, combined with her snuffliness, worried the nursery too much, so they rung us up to take her home again today, and I've been rubbing antiseptic ointment into her sores whenever I've changed her since, to help it heal cleanly, and washing them with cotton wool and water rather than baby wipes (because I bet they'd sting on a sore...)
Still, as usual, she is in good sprits, laughing and smiling and playing! She wails when I change her and clean the sores, but soon cheers up when she's back in a fresh nappy 🙂
Jean is becoming a proper mini person these days - her baby sign is improoving drastically including making up her own variations on them. On of the things she does is keep asking for more food until she has stuff in her mouth and something in each hand, or at least this is what she was doing. Now she stores it out of sight in the hope we wont realise and will give her more - we've been caught out by this one once or twice now. She got very indignant when I removed her store of grapes - lots of NO and snorting on her part plus 'grumpy donald duck' face.
The other interesting thing is her interaction with the cats. She feds them - I have to be really quick when nipping to the kitchen or what ever other wise they are eating out of her hand - this is only the kittens and not Minni - I have taken to turfing them from the house if I'm going to feed her! However she did get very annoyed with them when she had stashed something and they started trying to drag it away to eat it - she was really indignant with them - of course I upset everyone by throwing the cracker away!
She also says 'itan' which we assume is kitten as she is normally pointing at them whilst saying it. She hugs the 'itans' which they tend to tolorate until she starts trying to stroke them at which point they rapidly move to just out of her reach - she then crawls after them and everone goes round in circles. She just points at Minni these days, iterestingly she doesnt call Minni 'itan' she has a sound sort of like 'mmmack' so goodness knows what shes thinking with that one!
Minni seems to have grown to tolorate the kittens, especially H - she sometimes still attacks poor He but will sit next to H. She even eats next to them sometimes to eat!
The kittens are so funny to watch eating if Minnis got to the big plate before them - they then have to both eat from her little bog bowl thing and sort of push each others heads out of the way, they get steadily faster and faster and more and more insistant but without actually attacking each other - its quiet amazing to watch really. They are sort of polite about it somehow.
The last thing I have to say about the cats is that they all have very distinctive personalities that we have observed. If confronted with something that say hurt them on investigation - Minni would run away like a streak of black lightning, He would run out of range then turn and glare at what ever it was whilst H who is the cute bimbo would go 'ooo pretty, ouch, ooo pretty ouch.....' and so on ad infonitium. She also falls of chairs and falls into the stream generally by stretching and then rolling in the wronge direction. She has also accidently jumped into a bath of water - how she could have failed to notice we had removed the chaning table I dont know!
This morning I was awoken by Jean being lowered onto me being told to hug mummy!
She then proceeded to pick up my glasses from the side of the bed and try to poke my eyes out with them - obviously she knows where the glasses go!
Her baby sign is really coming on now - she says poo but unfortunatly she does this sign when breaking wind also. Shes developed some of her own signs as well like more done with both hands when she really wants something and is going to cry if you dont get it. She points to things with a huge degree of accuracy now aswel!
She has said Lion but only once - mind due it was the day she got a board book about a lion and we opened a birthday presant that was a singing lion!
To day she went and got a plum from the fruit bowl by herself and eat it - well she eat half of it and then shared it with me - she really likes feeding me and sharing her food - I wounder if this is becuase me and Al tend to share what ever we are eating with her?
I think I may have been over cleaning the cupboards and stuff in the kitchen as when I gave Jean a basin with a little bit of water in it to play with she started cleaning the cupboards with it!
She also does the cuttest little wiggle dance when music comes one or you start dancing - we have some cute picks and little video clips that we must upload for all you baby fans out there!
Ok peeps - we are having Halloween festives on the weekend of the 27th - ie we would welcome visitors from Fri 27th to Sun 29th of October - there will be decorations and games to play 🙂
Hope some of you can face the long and arduous journey to Gloucestershire to join us for this festive occasion 🙂
Again we have a sofa bed, floor space and a tent.
If any peeps want to bring fireworks - we could have an early fireworks night type thing!
We survived - no fatalities or anything! And we let ten yr olds loose with screw drivers!
I was right about the photo thing - I took photos but have to wait and see if the perants will sign the forms so I can use them.
Al was fantastic with the kids - and he looks soooooo cute in the uniform 🙂
His cubs are all obsessed with dinosuars!
My Beavers are obsessed with Bob and blowing things up!
The Scouts - all four of them are really really scarily enthusiastic and one of them appears to be Harry Potter!?! But they made the rocket luancher and had a great time jumping on the bottle to launch the rockets - the girls team won of course! So inorder to stop the war of the sexes from properlly braking out the teams where splite for the next game.
We are tired now - Bobble also appears to have picked up a tummy bug this week as we had more vomit today - only once we got back though thank god. This resulted in us washing her, the baby gym and her road map rug 🙁 We still have alot of tidying to do - the furniture which was rearranged for the carpet shampooing hasnt yet gone back into place - SIGH.
Anyway it was fun- even if one of the leader people said that girls couldnt read maps and use compasses - and it was a she - I said yes they can - eeek now I have to teach them erm I can do triangulation does that count?
